Introduction This is not so much a blog as an electronic book of essays. Although I've arranged the essays in an order that seems logical, each one is meant to stand alone. Comments are welcome. Laurie and I have lived in Colorado since June 2007. For three years, we were in Grand Junction. More recently, we moved to Denver to be closer to hospitals and doctors for cancer treatments. Before Colorado, we lived in Ithaca, NY, for 30 years; traveled full-time (U.S. and Canada) for six years; and lived in Columbia, MO, for three years. My greatest passion is wildness. I love hiking in wild places (little pockets of it as well as big wilderness areas), photographing what I find there, and thinking about the value and meaning of it. Travel is my second greatest passion. We have traveled extensively in the U.S. and Canada.
