| Introduction | My name is Mel. I grew up here in the Pacific Northwest raised by very frugal parents that taught my sister and I to appreciate the natural world....and work hard. I decided to become an architect when I was 12. That decision took me on a fellowship to Scotland, and then to live and work in San Francisco. It was there I met my future husband and we moved to Portland. That was 2005, when this urban farm journey really started.
