| Introduction | I am married to my wonderful husband, Eric, and we have two funny, energetic, almost perfect boys. ;)We just found out that we are expecting, for the 7th time. Sounds pretty crazy at 27 years old, huh. Well, the reason for this is multiple miscarriages. To date, I have miscarried 4 times. With our third miscarriage, we found out that I have a robertsonian translocation between my 13th and 14th chromosomes, which both of our boys have also inherited. This gives my a 25% chance of having a trisomy 13 child, and a 25% chance of having a trisomy 14 child(T14 is fatal). As if this weren't enough, if I am able to get pregnant with a healthy child, I will get Hyperemesis Gravidarum, or HG for short. No one really knows why women get HG, but for those of us who have it, it sure makes life hard. With my first son, I lost 19 pounds to HG, and with my second, I lost 26 and spent a lot of inpatient time in the hospital. This is not to mention home health and E.R visits. Now we are trying to have just one more healthy child. |
