| Introduction | Jan Meisels Allen is the vice president of the IAJGS, elected at its 2011 Annual Meeting and is the president, program chair and founding member of the JGS of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County. She has been serving on the IAJGS Board since 2004, chairing its Public Records Access Monitoring Committee, monitoring and trying to influence legislation and regulations, worldwide, that would impede access to vital records. She serves as the IAJGS managing partner to the FGS-NGS-IAJGS Records Preservation and Access Committee serving the overall genealogical community in preserving access to vital records. She is a retired lobbyist. Jan served as the 2007 IAJGS International Conference Registration Chair and Website Editor. She is the translation coordinator for JewishGen for two Yizkor Books: Sochaczew, Poland and Stawiski, Poland. She has traveled to Poland to visit and research her maternal shtetls. She is a member of the following SIGs: JRI-PL, H-SIG, Gesher Galicia, Yizkor Book, Latin America SIG and RAV-SIG. Previously she served on the JGSLA Board of Directors for 5 years, including 4 years as first vice president and Program Chairperson. |
