| Introduction | In Seattle, Urban Beekeeping has become just as common as wearing socks with sandals. In an effort to raise awareness about the declining Bee population and it’s effect on the environment Seattlites are putting Bee Hives anywhere they can. With a passion for local foods (Bees pollinate about 80 percent of the foods we consume) and community initiatives, a brilliant Exeutive Chef at a iconic Seattle Hotel decided to contribute and last May installed five hives on the Hotel’s rooftop in downtown Seattle. One year later, the girls are still buzzing and pollinating, along with producing delicious Honey for select items in the hotel’s restaurants. Partnering with Corky Luster and Ballard Honey, we have slowly learned from quite the expert. This blog shares the sticky aspects of BeeKeeping along with unique recipes, resources and links our favorite places. Helping the environment and being a local ambassador never tasted so sweet |
