Introduction I'm in a perpetual cycle of read, write, teach, read, write, teach. When I'm not teaching, reading, or writing, I'll often be on a walk, hike, or an aimless, looping bike ride around town. I teach high school English.
Interests I love all adventures that include some mix of the following, but are not limited to: traveling, reading, snowboarding, hiking, spicy food, unusual cuisine, foreign and independent movies (matinée or theater-pubs are the best), live music, outdoor concerts (especially festivals), sleeping under the stars and swimming in the ocean. Recently fell very hard in love with the act of tending a garden.
Favorite Movies A River Runs Through It, Amelie, Apocalypse Now, Big Lebowski, Blue Crush, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Easy A, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, High Fidelity, MASH, Once, Pulp Fiction, Run Lola Run, Stranger than Fiction, Everything is Illuminated, Urban Cowboy, and of course, Steel Magnolias.
Favorite Music Ani DiFranco, Massive Attack, Pixies, My Morning Jacket, Black Keys, Spoon, Widespread Panic, Clapton, Louis Armstrong, Neil Young, CSNY, Elvis, Elvis Costello, English Beat, Joni Mitchell, Joy Division, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Bjorn, the Shins, Postal Service, Sons and Daughters, Stars, Lou Reed
Favorite Books A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Centennial, East of Eden, Blankets, Ramona Quimby age 8, Eloise, Unbearable Lightness of Being, Ana Karenina, La Perdida, Eva Luna, David Copperfield, Fun Home. I something to enjoy about almost all modern comedic fiction/non fiction. Recent fan of creative non fiction a-la Joan Didion and Joyce Carol Oates. Current genres of choice: Visual Narratives, Graphic Novels, flash fiction. P.S. I often buy into the hullabaloo surrounding book club choices. Guilty pleasure: I must admit, Stephen King.

You've just inherited a manufacturing plant that specializes in plastics. What are you going to make?

balance balls. I'd sell them and keep enough for my classroom so I could replace the desks with great big wooden tables.
