Interests Victoria Hinshaw and I met quite a few years ago at a writer’s conference – I believe it may even have been during a Beau Monde gathering, but don’t ask me which one. Or what year it was. From the first, we knew we were kindred spirits, each with a passion for the past and a desire to learn all that we could about daily life during the Georgian, Regency and Victorian eras. Over the years, we’ve shared our research finds and woes with one another, talked each other through the writing of books (good and bad), and the buying of books (good and bad), we’ve swapped great information and links we’ve found on the web, we’ve traveled together and enjoyed not a few drinks in each other’s company. In fact, along with our third Musketeer, author Jo Manning, we’ve sat around fires from the north to the south of England, from the east to the west of Florida and discussed the answer to a question that’s intrigued us for years: Beau Brummell – straight, gay, bisexual or a-sexual? And should that query ever pale, there’s that other burning question to fall back upon– what was the real reason for the Duke of Wellington’s marrying Kitty Pakenham? Because we three email one another at least six times a day, and because we thought it would be fun to try to build a community of people with likeminded interested, we created this blog. If you spend an inordinate amount of time reading, researching and pondering the past, then you’ve found a place at which you can feel at home; a place to get in touch with and share information with others who just can’t help but to Research England.
