| Introduction | The mission of Cultural Canvas Thailand is to generate awareness and volunteer support of the current social issues facing Chiang Mai, Thailand. Art Relief International is a project that was launched by Cultural Canvas Thailand in 2009 that aims to approach volunteerism through a creative lens. The ARI model uses art therapy and art education techniques to cross language and cultural barriers and enable our art workshop participants to more effectively communicate their needs to us and to the larger community. The mission of Art Relief International is to promote awareness of significant social issues and inspire change, while cultivating creativity among struggling social groups. ARI offers these individuals and groups something rare: an accepting and therapeutic atmosphere that not only fosters an appreciation for art, but provides an outlet to cope with the difficulties of everyday life. |
