Introduction Nancy Mattoon has worked in libraries for over thirty years. She began as a shelver at the Undergraduate Library of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and worked her way up the food chain from Student Assistant, to Library Clerk, to Library Assistant while earning her Master's Degree in Library Science. Her first job as a bona fide Librarian was in Children's Services with the County of Los Angeles Public Library. She has since worked as a Young Adult Librarian, a specialist in an AIDS-HIV Information Center, a Videotape Librarian for a Cable Television Network, and a Branch Library Manager. She lives with her husband (an archivist)in Los Angeles, on the wrong side of the West Hollywood tracks.
